Amãna Bank continued its commitment to community upliftment and inclusive development by extending its support to School with a Smile 2026, a flagship educational welfare initiative implemented by the Zam Zam Foundation under the theme “My Sri Lanka, My Responsibility.” As part of this initiative, the Bank contributed school bags to support underprivileged schoolchildren across several districts in Sri Lanka.
The School with a Smile programme is designed to ease the financial burden faced by families with school going children by providing essential school supplies. The 2026 initiative benefited 5,500 students from the Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Monaragala, Colombo, and Kandy Districts, supporting their educational journey through the distribution of standard school packs containing school bags, exercise books, and other essential learning materials, through the collective support of partners and contributors.
Since its inception, School with a Smile has facilitated the distribution of over 80,000 school packs to primary and secondary students across more than 200 locations islandwide. Amid prevailing economic challenges, such initiatives have become increasingly vital in ensuring continued access to education for children from vulnerable communities.
Commenting on the initiative, Mohamed Najad, Project Manager – School with a Smile, Zam Zam Foundation, stated, “As a flagship initiative of Zam Zam Foundation, School with a Smile reflects our continued commitment to uplifting education and supporting the well-being of students in underprivileged schools across Sri Lanka. We sincerely appreciate the support extended by Amana Bank PLC, whose contribution has helped further strengthen the impact and reach of this initiative.
